The American Birding Expo is moving to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in Fall 2017
After two years in Columbus, Ohio, the American Birding Expo is moving to the East Coast for 2017 and 2018. The 2017 Expo will be at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pennsylvania. Expo show dates are Friday, September 29, through Sunday, October 1.
This change of location places the Expo within 100 miles of three of the largest population centers in the eastern United States: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Baltimore, Maryland/Washington, D.C.; and the New Jersey/New York City metro area. The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center (GPEC) is located in the heart of affluent suburbs, just 25 miles from downtown Philadelphia and 30 miles from the Philadelphia International Airport.
Expo Founder/Director Bill Thompson, III, explained some of the reasoning behind the move.
“Moving to the Philly area puts us in the midst of a densely population region of the United States, and an area with a high percentage of birders and active, thriving bird clubs. Even better, we’ll be inside a building designed for holding events like ours,” Thompson said.
