Our Expo partner, the John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove and its excellent staff, will be headlining the Family Day activities on Sunday, September 23 at the 2018 American Birding Expo!
The John James Audubon Center works to protect birds and the places they need in many different ways, including providing a home for birds that cannot be released back into the wild. Come to Family Day and meet two of their permanent residents, a screech owl and a barred owl, and learn more about what you can do to help local birds at home. There will be several activity tables where you can explore different bird adaptations, make seed balls that will help you grow plants for birds at home, create your own paper bird that can fly, discover new birds by making your own pair of binoculars, and learn more about the local Delaware River Watershed and why keeping it clean is important.
All of these activities will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m on Sunday, September 23. At 1 p.m., there will be a presentation featuring live owls & their amazing adaptations by Carrie Barron. Admission to the Expo for the entire weekend is $10 for adults. Children under 17 years old are admitted for free! All family day activities including the presentation will be held in the biggest meeting room right when you enter (Meeting Rooms 1-4) at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center.
