Anyone interested in learning more about getting started in bird watching, in bird feeding, or in improving their birding skills is invited to attend free morning workshops during the American Birding Expo. Experts on these topics will be presenting informative, informal, 30-minute workshops, followed by a question and answer period, on the mornings of Friday, September 29 and Saturday, September 30, 2017. The bird watching and birding skills workshops will be held at the John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove, in Audubon, PA, and the bird feeding workshops will be held in Hall E of the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center (location of the Birding Expo) in Oaks, PA.
Dawn Hewitt and Kyle Carlsen from Bird Watcher’s Digest will present “Getting Started in Bird Watching, Parts 1& 2” at the Audubon Center pavilion on both days.
Birding experts Alvaro Jaramillo and Steve Shunk will present a series of birding skills workshops on bird identification, choosing optics, and woodpeckers, in association with the American Birding Association in the Audubon Center barn meeting room on both days.
Wild Birds Unlimited founder Jim Carpenter and WBU staff members John Schaust and Brian Cunningham will present “The Basics of Feeding Birds in Your Backyard” in Hall E of the Expo Center on both days.
Talks will begin at 8:00 and 9:15 a.m. each morning in each of the three venues. For more information, visit the workshop schedule page on the Expo website.
