The 2017 American Birding Expo (our third annual) was the best one yet! The regional birding community came out in force to the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pennsylvania. And when they got there, they encountered the world of birding in one place—just as our event marketing had promised. There were exhibitors from birding hotspots near and far, representing birding tours and destinations on every continent, and from more than 38 countries. There was a huge array of optics, cameras, gear, and clothing. There was artwork, gift items, bird feeders, nest boxes, and seed. There were birding events and organizations. It was like a giant shopping mall dedicated to our favorite hobby.
But best of all the Expo was a gathering of the tribe—a coming together of the bird-watching community. We saw old friends, made new ones, birded together, and laughed and hugged and high-fived. The weather was perfect, the birding was amazing, and we can’t wait to do it again next year!
One final, special note: The Expo Conservation Raffle and Silent Auction took in more than $10,000! This money will be distributed to several conservation organizations, causes, and projects to help protect the birds we love so much.
If you were a part of the 2017 American Birding Expo, we thank you for coming! Come back next year and bring all your friends!
Please mark your calendar for September 21–23, 2018, for the fourth annual American Birding Expo in Hall A of the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, in Oaks, PA.

P.S. The Expo team at Bird Watcher’s Digest extends our deep appreciation to our sponsors and exhibitors, to our partners at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, the American Birding Association, and the John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove/Audubon Pennsylvania, as well as to our stellar birding guides and volunteers, without whom the Expo would not have been possible.
